Property description

Nestling in just over 4.7 acres of stunning gardens, paddocks and woodland, this charming Colt bungalow provides a delightful opportunity for rural living. It is set well back from the road and accessed via electric gates leading to a double garage and opposite the village green in Old Wives Lees. This is in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and surrounded by orchards and hop fields. While the bungalow is in need of a little TLC to reflect its wonderful environment, this spacious property offers plenty of flexible accommodation to suit a variety of requirements. There is a good-sized hall leading to three bedrooms and two bathrooms as well as a kitchen and utility area – where you will even discover an indoor kennel! The large, light and bright L shaped lounge and dining area has a veritable wall of windows and French doors overlooking the beautiful garden with its terrace, extensive lawns, pond and lovely specimen trees and shrubs – many of them brought back by the owners from around the globe. Beside the main lawn there is a vast potting shed/workshop that makes an ideal ‘man cave’ as well as two large greenhouses. This leads to a secluded lawn area that used to be an asparagus patch and a tractor shed with both a ‘sit on’ mower and a small tractor. When you walk beyond the high hedge you realise why a tractor is needed. There is approximately 4 acres of paddock interspersed with a few trees that would be ideal for horsey enthusiasts. This leads on to a private wood that makes a great place for the children to explore and perhaps camp out with their friends.

What the Owner says:

They even brought seeds back from their various travels abroad and propagated them to create the magnificent specimen trees and shrubs that now enhance the beauty of the grounds. They always loved the peace and tranquillity of the area but were still able to pop to The Star pub for a drink. The village hall provides a comfortable venue for local club activities and there is a regular bus service for school children and if you don’t want to drive. You can even walk into the charming village of Chilham, just over a mile away, and enjoy all the facilities it has to offer. These include the Woolpack and the White Horse pubs as well as a restaurant and tea shop, post office and gift shop. There is a tennis club, sports centre, a children’s playground and a 15th-century village hall that was originally the tithe barn for Chilham Castle as well as a couple of excellent farm shops on the outskirts of the village.
