Property description

What a wonderful location!

This home is in fantastic surroundings with lovely gardens and countryside views - offering a not to be missed idyllic lifestyle choice.

This individual property offers great living and dining space as well as three double bedrooms. The lounge is a comfortable room set down three steps with floor to ceiling windows making up two of the walls and a stylish log burner to cosy-up to on those chillier winter nights. Separate utility and study areas compliment the lovely open kitchen. The master bedroom opens onto the veranda and has a large en-suite whilst the family bathroom is a pure delight too.

The whole arrangement contributes to making light and airy contemporary living which balances well with the location and the stunning south facing natural gardens.

The extensive living space leads out from the lounge or from the utility room to a triple aspect terrace. Externally, the large garden has ancient hedgerows and old fruit trees, producing cooking apples, plums, greengages, sloes, rosehips, elderflowers and berries. The property is designed to sit in its setting beautifully and has ample parking, a large workshop and a log store. A self-contained chalet with its own parking, sun deck and area of garden is really useful for accommodating extra family when they come to stay or students home from uni! It has also been used as a studio but would do equally as well as a home office.

The terrace takes in the ever changing landscape of the AONB of Ashey Valley.

Locally, the property opens out onto a public footpath - leading onto further spectacular walks and bridleways. There are numerous livery stables very nearby. The steam railway runs through on the valley floor. Cattle are moving across the landscape and lambs can be heard calling for their mums. Buzzards soar high above on the thermals and at 11am this is the quietist spot in the world to have your coffee! Yet you are still only minutes away from modern life in town.

What the Owner says:

We're biting the bullet and leaving whilst we're on 'a high'. This has been the most wonderful place to be and many tears will be shed when we leave. Our children say they have had terrific happy memories of idyllic old fashioned childhoods - climbing trees and running free. We have held everything from Scout meetings, BBQ's, parties, Hospice fund raising garden parties, yoga sessions, Brownie treasure hunts here at one time or another. Our friends call in and slump in a chair and that's it - that days plan gone. 11am and coffee on the veranda and you have the quietest place in the world! Neighbours are up the lane, rarely seen but there if needed. The chalet was initially used as 'over spill' for our family but in later years the kids, nieces, nephews have all come back and stayed - for festivals, Christmas, or just back from Uni and wanting theirs (and ours!)privacy still. The drive opens out onto the prettiest of unmade lanes. Turn left - walk to feed the ducks. Turn right - walk to wave at the steam train passing. Continue on over the crossing and follow the footpath across the fields up to the sea mark to find the most astonishing of views of the Solent and Portsmouth. Leave roast in the oven and return to dinner and a glass of red (beat you to that years ago Kirsty & Phil!) or a cold beer followed by retirement to the terrace and a comfy sun bed for a snooze or the papers!
