Recorded by name as far back as 1230, Carnpessack is an individual, historic property possibly named originally after a defence earthwork long since vanished, ('Car' Cornish for fort and 'Pesek' meaning ruined). Numerous Iron Age artefacts have been found nearby, including a bronze age sword found by the spring (still in use until recently) and now displayed in Cornwall County Museum. It was also home to one Carpyssack, a fisherman, who lead an insurrection against Henry VIII and was subsequently hung, drawn and quartered in Helston. The original 56 acres attached to the farmhouse were traditionally farmed until 1970, when the house and land were sold separately. Today Carnpessack is presented as a comfortable, detached farmhouse of considerable charm and originality, having been extensively and sympathetically renovated by the present owners. Located on a no through road and set within its own gardens and grounds Carnpessack offers seclusion and privacy as well as flexible and extensive accommodation, with considerable further potential for redevelopment of existing buildings.
From a generous porch, the internal hallway leads left through half glazed double doors to the kitchen/breakfast room, added by the present owners in 2002. Much thought has been given to the materials used and includes of vernacular features as well as comprehensive fitted birch units and integral appliances.
