Property description
They don't make them like this anymore, set at the far end of New Hythe Lane with pleasant views across Leybourne Lakes this period home should make the top of your viewing list! According to the seller this used to be a shop years ago supplying the locals for their "day to day" needs. Built around 1860 the house has gone through two World Wars, two hurricanes and a typhoon, so the seller told me with a wry smile. The fact is these sturdy homes stand the test of time.
As you can tell by viewing the property from the side that the house is fairly deep and the addition of the garden room which was added by the current owners in around 2004 brings a whole new dimension to it. Invite the outside in by keeping the doors ajar in the summer to allow some cool fresh air to circulate or use it as a hobby room after all the natural light is excellent.
Commuters are spoilt for choice, junction 4 of the M20 is within a few minutes drive and there is a coach service from New Hythe Lane into London; not forgetting New Hythe train station.
If you don't feel like cooking one night, no problem the Bricklayers Arms Pub close by offers good food and a friendly atmosphere, get to know the locals over a pint, they will be very welcoming.
What the Owner says:
I promised the wife a cottage and although this house was in a bit of a state when we bought it over 18 years ago, but the size and location won us over!
We have done a lot of work to the property in our time here including re-designing the shower room and replacing the boiler about 3 years ago, so there shouldn't be too much expense for the next owners.
Having recently retired my wife and I are looking forward to a move to the coast.
