Here's the deal...
we have a two bed house available to rent in Siddow Common, Leigh. Unfortunately, a combination of a break in, water leak, general wear and tear and age means it is no longer at its best. It is now in need of some TLC to bring it up to the standard we would like to be letting out.

However, the owner is no longer in the UK and they don?t currently have the time or inclination to do this work themselves.

So, we are wondering if we could find somebody who would be interested in doing the work in return for a rent free period of, say, six to nine months.

The exact work to be carried out would have to be agreed between us but we envisage it including redecoration throughout, the fitting of a new kitchen and bathroom, some new flooring and repairs following the water damage as a minimum. Whatever, the rent discount the owner is prepared to give will be at least equivalent to the value of the work.

Any work must be carried out to a professional standard so this would suit somebody who is either in the building trade themselves or has reliable contacts who are. If you think this might suit you please do get in touch only if you are fully capable of either doing the work yourself or organising it with contacts you already have in place.

With a little effort this will be a lovely family home again and the right person/people will be able to make it exactly as they would like and save on rent in return for their time and effort.

A perfect credit rating is not essential but you must be able to demonstrate the ability to pay the rent once the rent free period is up.

ps - If we could find the right people the owner might also consider making this property available on a 'rent to buy' basis. This is where the purchase price is fixed now and a portion of the monthly payments goes toward the purchase but the tenant/buyer has time (say, three to five years) to build sufficient deposit to get a mortgage.
