Property description

The this property is a quintessential Kent village cottage and was originally part of the Eythorne House estate. It is surrounded by other associated properties with descriptive names such as The Stable and the Coach House. This delightful rural property retains much of the ambience of a bygone era but has been sensitively updated for modern living. Whether you are looking for a full time home or a weekend country retreat, this property has a lot to offer. You walk through the back stable door straight into a charming country style kitchen/breakfast room with its beams, Welsh dressers and bespoke wooden cabinets. This cosy room is ideal for sitting and having a chat with friends while the nearby large fitted utility room is an excellent spot for keeping washing out of sight and housing muddy boots after a walk with the dog.

Great use has been made of the space available, with a small study area in the hall and large storage cupboards on the landing, while the gorgeous beamed living rooms have been opened up to provide one large reception area. At one end is a lovely inglenook fireplace where you can enjoy the warmth of the fire and at the other end you could entertain your friends and family to dinner.

Both of the double bedrooms upstairs include lovely views across the Kent countryside as well as large cupboards providing plenty of storage and you can soak in the cast iron, claw foot bath in the large bathroom. Outside the low maintenance garden includes a lawn area, a driveway for off road parking and the walled courtyard for those private summer barbecues, while the village shop and pub are less than a minute’s walk away.

What the Owner says:

Eythorne is a very friendly village with its churches, pub, post office and general store. There are plenty of activities in the village hall including a free pre-school playgroup. The East Kent Heritage Railway operates vintage trains on the old colliery railway between Shepherdswell and Eythorne and you can take wonderful walks around the countryside and in the nearby Waldershare Park.
There are buses to the surrounding towns and school buses from the village to the excellent primary school in Shepherdswell as well as to the secondary schools in Dover, Deal and Sandwich. The village is just over seven miles from Dover and a little over 14 miles from the historic city of Canterbury. There are high speed rail services from Dover Priory Station to St Pancras which takes 1hr and 40mins and it is only just over two miles to Shepherdswell station for trains to Victoria.
