Property description
A real treat for anyone out there who would love an old country cottage set in a beautiful countryside location. This just about sums up this stunning cottage.
We shall go on through as there is plenty to talk about! The original stone cottage dates back to around 1650 with an add on in 1750. Over the years from Victorian times the property has been enlarged and improved to make it into the impressive building you see before you today. A lot of care and attention is required for this kind of property and the current owners have kept a lot of those stunning character features throughout. The lounge is beamed with a large inglenook fireplace that will rival any you see! Imagine lighting this on a cold winter's evening and there’s no way you will need the heating on at the same time. A great place to relax.
Outside is again something special being an established organic fruit and vegetable garden and you can pretty much live off the fat of the land! You also have a couple of generous outbuildings including the summerhouse/studio and the large barn at the end of the garden which will garage two cars and has access stairs to above storage. Adjacent to the barn is a large workshop.
Overall this is a beautiful cottage with some stunning features set in a generous plot in a gorgeous location
what more could you possibly want?
What the Owner says:
For 48 years we have lived in this lovely rural location and have enjoyed being surrounded by the Ashdown Forest which is in the Designated High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is also within the EU Special Protection Area for Nature.
The space inside is more than enough for us having brought up a family of five and is much larger than the very small original cottage. The ground floor study area could be reverted back to make a third bedroom. We’ve kept as many period features as possible and believe this is a house for someone who has a real love for older properties.
