Situation
Coalport is a delightful small village community nestling in the Severn Gorge adjoining the River Severn; the area was at the heart of the Industrial Revolution and is steeped in heritage with the Ironbridge Gorge and museums forming part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and being a premier tourist area. The world’s first iron bridge constructed in 1779 is some two miles to the west and Telford town centre with its excellent range of facilities, including the railway station and access to the M54, is some five miles to the north. Coalport is understood to have been the creation of William Reynolds, one of the 18th century Shropshire iron makers and was the home of the Coalport China Works which was world renowned for its production of china and decorative tiles.
The property is situated in an enviable position adjacent to the historic Coalport Canal which is now only used by ducks and wildlife. Beyond the canal there are beautiful views towards the River Severn. Situated close by is the Tar Tunnel and Hay Inclined Plain which was once used to carry tug boats up Madeley Hill. There are many local pubs and restaurants nearby including The Shakespeare Inn and The Boat Inn across the footbridge.

How to get there – from Ironbridge proceed along Waterloo Street; at the Free Bridge bear left along The Lloyds; at the triangular junction bear right towards Coalport and proceed over the small bridge (Tar Tunnel Bridge) and past The Shakespeare Inn - park at the car park on the left – walk back to a small bridge and proceed down the steps where the cottage is in front on the right hand side approached through gated access to the courtyard.
