These charming buildings were built in 1885 to form a new Union Workhouse, replacing one on Shaftesbury Street that had been destroyed by fire. In 1948 they became part of the new National Health Service as Fordingbridge Infirmary. Adjacent to these buildings is Fordingbridge Surgery, originally built as the classrooms for the workhouse children.
The striking clock in the tower was a gift from Sir Edward Hulse of Breamore House.
