Property description

This splendid one bedder boasts every conceivable advantage! Sympathetic styling, a nicely sized bedroom, plenty of storage and an eat-in kitchen. To top it off you've got a peaceful location and a lush, south-west facing private and peaceful walled rear garden. Where is this gem? It enjoys a mature, residential location a stone's throw from Brixton, Clapham and Streatham centres, also close to Balham and Tooting Bec. This stretch is well known for the admirable community spirit - the first Sunday of every month there is a "play-out", where the road is closed to traffic and the kids can ride their bikes up and down the street - how lovely! There is an annual street party too, where you can show-off your homemade baking skills to the neighbours.

You'll notice this house does not have any neighbours on one side, so noise is significantly reduced. Park on the street (unrestricted, wahoo!) and enter the communal hall. You share this with just one other. In through the flat door and you'll find the reception room fronting the street. It has a recently refurbished original bay window, richly stained wooden flooring and cool grey walls. There's a period fireplace to use as a focal point and a clever shelf has been fitted into one alcove to use as a desk/study area.  Just behind is the double bedroom overlooking the garden. It has neutral carpets and an original cupboard with duck-egg blue painted doors. Continue along the hall, passing two separate storage cupboards, to find the bathroom directly ahead. A modern white suite and tiling make for an uncomplicated theme, whilst the genius use of a large mirror on the left hand side really maximises the space. At the very rear you'll find a fab eat-in kitchen stocked with plenty of units and space for a dining table and chairs. One wall is an entire blackboard so you have no excuse for forgetting the in-law's birthday! A decent garden is also all yours - access it from the hall and you have a run of flower beds, paved areas and a wide side-return for great storage.

There are a plethora of buses whizzing down Brixton Hill every few minutes. The Victoria Line in Brixton (zone 2) is known for being the quickest of all. Balham tube offers the Northern Line. The no 137 bus is within a few minutes stroll and will whizz you to Sloane Square and Marble Arch in no time. Streatham Hill and Streatham Common will keep you busy all year round. Tooting Bec Park is just 10 minutes on foot - great for chilling out come the milder weather. Brixton's all a buzz with the newly developed Windrush Square offering a marvellous place to sit, chat and drink coffee. This is before we mention the ocean of funky bars, cafes and restaurants on offer - we love 'The Hive' for luscious lunchtime treats and 'Fujiyama' for some noodles and vino. The Ritzy cinema will keep any audience happy with its thoughtful mix of arthouse and mainstream titles and 'The White Horse' really rocks out on the weekend. Clapham and the ever popular Abbeville Village are a 20-30 minute stroll in the other direction. It'll take you the first three years to sample all the cuisine (Carmen tapas is our fave!) and you can walk it off on Clapham Common. Khamsa on Acre Lane is great for some fab Algerian cooking - it's getting great reviews. Clapham High Street will keep you busy whatever the weather.
