Wells is a cathedral city and civil parish in the Mendip district of Somerset, on the edge of the Mendip Hills and has smallest city status since 1205. The name Wells derives from three wells dedicated to Saint Andrew, one in the market place and two within the grounds of the Bishops Palace and cathedral. It has all the modern conveniences plus shops, hotels and award winning restaurants. The major towns in the area, being Bristol, Bath, Taunton and Yeovil are all within commuting distance. there are excellent State & Independent schools in the area including several primary schools, Wells Blue School, Wells Cathedral School, Strode College and Millfield.
