THE PROPERTY Originally a river port, Shardlow developed greatly with the opening of the Trent and Mersey Canal in 1770, and on Millfield a special diversion from the canal was created to serve a Mill and Granary that terminated at a toll house. Today the toll house is known as number 1, the mill as numbers 7-9 and the Granary number 3.
