Property description

Built in the 1920s on the grounds of the former Southover Manor House, this Edwardian style home is located in a highly desirable and convenient location, just off Southover High Street. It is ideally situated for commuters and younger families, as it is a short, level walk to the train station (which offers direct links to London and Brighton) and local primary schools, and there is also an exceptional local shop.

The centre of this historic county town is close by, enticing you with its many cafes, pubs, restaurants and independent shops. The location of this property is also a benefit on 5th November each year, for watching the local society march through by torchlight and for enjoying the fireworks.

On entering the house, you will immediately see that the current owners have carefully and sympathetically refurbished to a very high standard, which now includes a superb master suite to the second floor, with ensuite cloakroom.

For all those keen horticulturists, there is a lovely walled rear garden, which offers a great space for entertaining or simply relaxing and unwinding.

With an annual street party, there is a real local community in this terrace. The residents will make you feel most welcome.

What the Owner says:

We chose the house for its garden and its location, the convenience of the High Street and the station, the beauty of the Grange gardens and the Priory ruins, and the freedom of the Downs, all within 10 minutes’ walking. What we discovered when we arrived was a welcoming community with a street party every year, in a safe, quiet area with a local shop, two schools and easy parking. A village within the town, almost!

We had to invest in the house to make it work for us, extending into the garden and the roof to give us more space and let the sky in. We will miss all of this, but also the hooting of the owl at night and the joy of seeing the sparrowhawk sitting quietly on the fence in the morning.
