Property description
This house is one of a kind and spectacular in many ways. It has tremendous charm and character throughout, which will be apparent on viewing!
The accommodation is impressively large and spread over three floors, with five bedrooms, two of which have beautiful en-suites. The reception rooms are elegant and very spacious, with plenty of scope for the family to spread out and relax.
The sun room on the side, which doubles up nicely as a utility room, features an historic bottle well, with heavy glass cover and concealed lighting inside. This looks magical in low light when the natural ferns adorning the sides of the well are illuminated - there can’t be many houses with one of these!
The house has many authentic features including open fireplaces, ceiling roses, ornate coving and original flagstone flooring.
The garden at the rear is secluded and thoughtfully laid out, with paved patio and lawn - the perfect place to enjoy summer afternoons and evenings.
Located in a peaceful road with ample parking at the front, you can leave the car at home and take a gentle stroll into Newport town centre, just five minutes' way.
We can’t think of anything in this property that will disappoint you - from top to bottom it is a lovely example of a period house.
What the Owner says:
When we first came here we were overwhelmed by the character and overall appeal of this unique home, which served as a temporary residence for John Keats, some 200 years ago. He started writing his major work 'Endymion' whilst in this house. We have loved living here - the schools are close by and there are also many great cycle paths and country walks within easy reach. Since living here we have done a great deal over the years and have brought the property back to its original state - retaining as much of the character as possible. We have replaced en-suites, bathrooms, kitchens, stain glass windows and recently installed a gas central heating boiler. We hope whoever comes here next will cherish this home as much as we have.
