Property description

Looking at the outside of this gorgeous double fronted village home with its charming shutters, miniature Juliette balconies, circular window and Georgian style front door makes you feel you are looking at a fairytale cottage. This atmosphere continues as you walk into the cosy sitting room with its vast inglenook fireplace and log burning fire while the elegant dining room with its regency style fireplace and plenty of cupboards is ideal for more formal occasions. For everyday living the large, country style kitchen/breakfast room has been sensitively modernised while retaining the aura of a bygone era. With its partially beamed ceiling, Aga, additional built in oven and hob and other integrated appliances it will delight any chef and be a magnet for all the family to get together. All the space has been fully utilised and there is even a small study area under the stairs where you can keep your computer and files.

On the first floor there is a family bathroom and two double bedrooms including one with en suite facilities while, on the second floor, there are two further double bedrooms – making this an ideal place for youngsters to enjoy their own space.

The amazing garden is a real surprise. As you walk out of the fascinating glazed back door and through the very useful porch, you are suddenly confronted by a pathway that disappears into the distance. There is an attractive gravelled seating area as well as a large terrace where you can enjoy al fresco dining and watch the fish in the pond and a covered pergola where you can sit when the weather is inclement. Walking along the path you pass lovely trees, flower borders, a green house, garden shed and plenty of nooks and crannies where the children can play hide and seek until you reach the garage which is accessed via a private road.

What the Owner says:

I moved here with my two daughters when they were much younger and it has been a joy to bring them up in this gorgeous house. During our time here I have been delighted to create the new kitchen/breakfast room and love spending time outside in our intriguing garden. However the girls have now left home and I feel it is time to downsize.

I love the village and hope to continue to live in Wingham - it is a very special place and has everything you could want. There is an excellent primary school, shop and post office, two very good pubs and restaurants as well as a regular country market and a superb farm shop nearby. The village hall offers plenty of activities if you want to join in from toddler groups to the sunny and bright club for the senior members of the community. The Anchor is an excellent family friendly pub and puts on a number of events for children.

There are also regular bus services as well as school buses to Canterbury and Sandwich and the Thanet towns. There are plenty of great places to walk the dogs and the kids will enjoy a visit to Wingham Wildlife Park. In addition we are only a short distance from the City of Canterbury with its historic buildings, high street stores, individual shops, universities, schools, theatres and restaurants.
