Property description
Grade II listed Georgian garden maisonette located in Bath city centre. This beautifully presented property comprises four bedrooms, three bathrooms, kitchen/dining room, drawing room, private garden and vaults storage.Marlborough Buildings is an elegant Georgian terrace that occupies an enviable location in the heart of Bath and enjoys views not only towards the allotments and nearby Victoria Park but also the famous Royal Crescent with its gracious lawns. The Garden Flat, 12 Marlborough Buildings is a beautifully presented maisonette apartment. Before we purchased this apartment, we were renting in Bath and had actually been searching for a place to buy for around four years, says Verity. I think it took us so long because we set out as two, but soon became four and so our wish list changed quite dramatically. What really appealed to us about this property was the open living. Between the kitchen and the dining room we have double doors, which means that when they are pushed back we have a lovely big, open plan area that is perfect for everyday family life as well as for entertaining; weve had quite a few fabulous parties during our time here. Theres lots of space and the layout, though quite unusual, has worked really well for us as a family.During our time here weve not changed the configuration of the apartment at all, but we have done quite a lot of renovation work, says Verity. Weve put in a beautiful new kitchen, laid wood flooring throughout some areas and re-carpeted others and generally updated the décor to give the apartment a more contemporary look and feel.Although were situated right in the heart of the city, were lucky enough to benefit from having our own private garden, says Verity. It was pretty run down when we moved here, but over the years weve transformed it into a really beautiful space. We have a nice patio area as well as a good size lawn; its all quite minimal in design, but it has been great for us as we have young children. The garden room is another really lovely part of the apartment, says Verity. Its wonderfully light and bright, obviously has a great connection to the outside space and its also a very flexible space. At the moment we use it as a playroom but it can also double as a guest room. One of the biggest draws to the apartment for us was the location, says Verity. Were close to the centre of town, but its not too busy and were never plagued by tourists. Were in zone one and so we benefit from having two parking permits, which is great, but everything is within walking distance, so unless were going out of town we generally dont need to use the car. We also love the fact that we have so many wide-open green spaces right on our doorstep. In my mind it couldnt be more perfect. We have loved our time here, says Verity, and well definitely be sad to leave. Well miss the open living, the stunning outlook, the peace and quiet, and our proximity to all that Bath has to offer.Verity
