Property description

Backing onto fields in the archetypal sprawling Kentish village of Shepherdswell, this breath taking new home needs seeing to be believed. Designed and built by the owner for his family, no detail has been omitted in terms of quality, finish and energy efficiency. From the Italian-style and bi-folding doors to the ultimate kitchen/dining living space and TV HD streaming throughout the house, this truly is a property created for the best in 21st-century living.

Before you even venture across the threshold you can see the large and attractive garage/workshop and a charming terrace where you can sit and wave to the neighbours as they walk past. Once through the elegant front door your eyes are drawn to the very light and bright kitchen/dining room with its top-quality appliances including a breakfast bar, built-in double oven and combination microwave, an induction hob, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. This opens either into the sitting room with its lovely wood burning stove or on to the main walled terrace through the bi-folding doors and gives you a flowing feeling of space throughout most of the ground floor. It provides a real hub where the family can congregate and also makes a fantastic entertainment area – whether you are holding a large Christmas party indoors or hosting a barbecue or al fresco dinner party on the terrace. There is also a very useful office and adjacent cloakroom just inside the front door, so is ideal if you are expecting business visitors.

Equally delightful are the four large double bedrooms on the first floor along with the stunning family bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have high-quality en suite facilities so there is plenty of room for family and guests. One has a glass Juliette balcony and the master incorporates a balcony where you can sit and admire the surrounding countryside and the easy-to-maintain garden.

What the Owner says:

"I built this house with a view to moving here but, unfortunately, family commitments mean we are now unable to do so. However, another family will be able to benefit from the care and attention that has been lavished on the design and detail of this house and they can move in straight away without having to do anything. We chose the area because Shepherdswell is such a friendly village and the primary school has an excellent reputation. The village has plenty of facilities such as the local Co-op for all your immediate needs and the post office with its ‘farmer’s market’ style shop selling a variety of local produce. There are also plenty of activities in the village hall from a toddler playgroup to a dance school and, if you enjoy walking or riding, there are a number of footpaths and bridleways. You will also find the ‘Spartans’ football club, a cricket team, a couple of excellent pubs and the East Kent Heritage Railway that operates vintage trains between Shepherdswell and Eythorne. You can drive to Canterbury in about 10 minutes and it is less than 15 minutes to Dover docks for the Continent. There is also a main-line station you can walk to for Dover or Canterbury, Faversham and London and regular bus services to the surrounding towns and villages – so you are very accessible to the outside world.”
