Property description

IF LOOKING FOR SOMETHING A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT? Then this converted church will certainly fit the bill.

The present owner purchased the property as a weekend retreat some years ago and as a Chartered Surveyor specialising in church conversions, sympathetically converted the original church into what is now a spacious family home with every modern day comfort, yet retaining many of the original features.

Located at the end of Church Lane, Crays Hill, the property has no immediate neighbours and therefore enjoys uninterrupted views of the surrounding countryside from both the front and rear.

The church itself has features dating back to the 15th Century and is steeped in history, originally serving the Lord of the Manor and farm workers.

This really is a property for somebody not looking for the standard modern family home, but a home that is unique in character set in a rural location away from the hustle and bustle of town. It is within a short drive of both Billericay and Wickford town centres, both of which offer a comprehensive range of local shops, wine bars and restaurants.

The present owner purchased the property because although it is in an extremely quiet area, it is still within easy travelling distance of London either by train or road.

What the Owner says:

As a Chartered Surveyor I work a lot with period properties and specialise in church conversions, so when this church came onto the market it represented an excellent opportunity for me to employ my skills and create an ideal weekend retreat in this peaceful and rural location.

Living and working in London it is easy to travel to and from the property and I have enjoyed many happy times here. The large living area provided us with the ideal space to have many parties and family gatherings.

Within the structure I have combined modern day requirements with the beautiful original features such as the stained glass window and timber beams.
