Property description

This beautifully maintained detached 1950s property in one of Palm Bay’s delightful leafy avenues is full of fascinating surprises. From the moment you walk through the porch into the spacious and welcoming reception hall you will be impressed by the immaculate state of the interior. This charming home has been completely renovated by the owners and the care they have taken to incorporate high quality modern fittings, but at the same time reinstate period features, is evident wherever you look. These include the lovely oak staircase, the picture and dado rails, the fireplaces, stained glass inset double glazed windows, the modern kitchen/breakfast room and bathroom as well as the plethora of windows and patio doors ensuring plenty of natural light flows through into every room. This is particularly noticeable in the lounge with its attractive fireplace and windows or large patio doors on three sides. Next door guests will be delighted to have dinner in the impressive dining room with its bay window and fireplace while the large and attractive conservatory accessed via the well fitted kitchen/breakfast room makes a lovely additional sitting room.

One of the great surprises is opening what appears to be a cupboard door under the stairs and finding a fantastic cinema and bar. This is a wonderful entertainment centre where you can watch the latest movies but it also makes a useful guest bedroom as it has an adjacent, ultra modern cloakroom. Another great delight is walking up the stairs where there are wide patio doors opening onto a large decked roof terrace where you can sit and relax watching the surrounding vista. Leading from the galleried landing are the family bathroom and three bedrooms, including the very large master with views across to the sea and a delightfully trendy fireplace.

Outside the wraparound garden on three sides is an ideal size. Not too large, but with plenty of character and individual areas. It includes a couple of patios, some fascinating mature trees, an attractive stone covered frontage with mature palm trees and a block paved driveway for off road parking. At the side of the house there is a charming woodland walk and an impressive fountain.

What the Owner says:

We bought the house in 2002 because we loved the position. It is very quiet but, at the same time, it is close to the local shops and the beach if you have children wanting to build sandcastles or a dog that enjoys a bracing walk. However the place needed completely renovating and we have thoroughly enjoyed spending the time in not only modernising every room but also putting back some of the original period features from when it was first built. We installed double glazing and a new heating system as well as a new kitchen, bathroom and conservatory. We wanted to create a very light and airy home so we re-opened blocked up windows and installed very large patio doors.
One of our great delights is the new cinema room where we while away many happy hours enjoying films or sitting at the bar with a drink or a cup of coffee and spending time with friends. Indeed, the whole house makes a great entertainment space. We even had our wedding here with about 80 people and were able to put up a marquee in the garden attached to the conservatory.
We are going to miss living in Cliftonville but we are moving further north to be nearer to family. However, we hope that new owners will be able to take advantage of all the efforts we have put in creating this lovely home.
