Property description

INTERESTING VICTORIAN TERRACED COTTAGE REQUIRING IMPROVEMENT AND MODERNISATION, TOGETHER WITH GARDEN AND YARD, CLOSE TO TOWN AMENITIES

DESCRIPTION
11 Orchard Terrace is a traditional Victorian cottage, probably built in the 1890s which offers considerable potential for extensive improvements and repairs. The spacious two bedroom accommodation has several original features including panelled doors and old built-in cupboards. Outside, there is a garden which slopes down to a small stream and to the rear of the property is a yard, and grassed area with space for flower tubs. To conclude, 11 Orchard Terrace provides an increasingly rare opportunity to purchase a cottage requiring renovation, close to the centre of Buckfastleigh.

SITUATION
11 Orchard Terrace is situated in a pleasant backwater position, behind Chapel Street in Buckfastleigh. This up and coming country town, on the southern slopes of the Dartmoor National Park provides a useful range of shops and good primary schooling. The surrounding countryside is delightfully unspoilt and offers excellent opportunities for outdoor pursuits. Buckfastleigh is a highly accessible little town with direct access to the A38 dual carriageway offering fast links to Plymouth and Exeter. The mainline rail link is also within short motoring distance.

From this, a wrought iron gate to No 11 leads into a small courtyard with trellis borders. To the original front aspect (approached from the door in the sitting room) is a garden, currently overgrown, part concrete and fenced with good-sized summerhouse. Beyond the rear fence, the ground drops down to a very pretty wide stream, at a much lower level.

DIRECTIONS
From the A38 Dartbridge exit, take the right turn, signed for Buckfast Abbey and Buckfastleigh. Continue past the abbey entrance, up the hill and drop down towards the centre of Buckfastleigh. As the road descends, take a right turn by the flats, towards the Sun Inn. Proceed past the past the pub, along Bridge Street, following the road left-handed into Chapel Street. After about 200 meters, the walkway entrance to Orchard Terrace will be seen on the left. We suggest you use the street parking in Chapel Street if space is available or continue to the public car park on the left, opposite the Co-op, and walk back to the property.
