THE GLASPANT ESTATE
Glaspant Farmhouse was built during the early part of the 18th century with evidence carved on a lintel above the study fireplace dated 1741. The Manor House was added later in the century for the Howell family and remained in their ownership until the mid 60s. In the early 70s Angela Lyle (Tate & Lyle) moved to Glaspant, she had connections with the music world and converted one of the outbuildings into a rehearsal studio. Many famous bands visited the estate including Black Sabbath, Freddi Mercury, Hawkwind and Genesis - who recorded The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway at Glaspant in 1974. The rehearsal studio has now become Swift Cottage which adjoins Swallow Cottage- two successful holiday lets within the estate. In the early 80s Glaspant was purchased by new owners who conducted extensive repair work and brought the estate back from certain ruin.
The current owners undertook an extensive program of modernization and renovation when they purchased Glaspant in 2006 ensuring the legacy of this stunning estate will continue for many years to come. Today the estate comprises of the resplendent Manor House, 5 bedroomed Farmhouse and two Holiday Cottages, numerous outbuildings and barns one of which is used as a an art studio for the vendor, another regularly housing art exhibits and events, and a third presently utilized as large workshop.
The fully furnished Farmhouse plus two holiday cottages – Swift and Swallow, are successful holiday lets boasting a \‘Visit Wales\‘ five star rating benefitting from an established web site and booking system. There is significant further commercial development potential for the main barn, potting shed, studio and long barn.
The grounds of Glaspant – which means Bluey-Green Hollow, can only be described as stunning and include a lovely spring fed lake, mature woodlands, walled gardens and orchard, works access lane and landscaped gardens surrounding the properties. The setting is truly magical – an oasis of tranquillity abundant with wildlife, offering seasonal delight with daffodils, snowdrops and bluebells in the spring and the rich toned hues of gold, copper and red in autumn. Winter brings another vision of beauty with frosted branches doubled by glorious lake reflection, a dusting of snow, twinkling lights in the central courtyard and chimneys puffing a warm welcome as you arrive home….. There is easy access to the Estate via the main driveway and back lane with ample parking in the courtyard and works area.
